Knickknack ,Environments and Early Design

Knickknack is the avatar and mascot that represents the student online portfolio. Knickknack is responsible for guiding and engaging the audience by establishing a personal connection in a fourth wall-breaking manner.

 

Knickknack is a being created from 1970s arts and crafts aesthetic, stereotypical artist and Norwegian mythos of the Tontu.   

 

The 1970s arts and craft ascetic was influenced through the combination of colour palettes found with in old arts and crafts manuals from the 70s collected fruit recycled and Chelsea shop trips.

 

Tontu a small strain stroll like creatures with stubborn personalities and typically symbolise a spirit of a specific area such as a home knickknacks case are the spirit and guide of the homepage and website. Tontu were the main visual influence for knickknacks facial design with a broad strong structure, large protruding detailed knows, a body covered in fur and the combination of stubbornness and assistance within the personality.

 

At the heart of knickknacks character design and personality they are a fabricator meant to represent a stereotypical creative with dungarees, paint splotches and body language and performance influenced by art shows such as Mister Maker and The Muppets.

 

Knickknacks eyes are void and black with small white spiral spinning constantly within knickknack is constructed to be a façade a character that is hiding their true feelings behind a mask of arts and craft creativity this can be best seen in their eyes as they are the only part of their body that differs from the colour palette after all the eyes of the windows to the soul.
