Room 1 - Lost Friendship and social anxiety

— A story of knickknack sock puppet

Fabrication and Development

Room one utilises this side of impostor syndrome that represents the fear of losing friendships because of unhealthy workload or anxiety of the self.

To represent this room one is a figurative and literal metaphor for creating or attempting to create new friends this is told for the point of view of a sock puppet trying to create a new pair. The sock puppets in this analogies are meant to represent knickknack and the friends they have lost because of the unhealthy approach to their work and creativity.

The stock but it is a live action character that is manly controlled through the Animasion method of pixilation profited by a human arm. The character was shot on blue screen and then edited out and over imposed onto the drawer later.

The arts and crafts creation sections was shot with a phone and I completely live action part from the props used within the shot which were created by Maggie Sobolewska. We shut in live action because we want to get that real nitty-gritty feeling of someone creating something physically with their hands showcasing the human emotion that knickknack has through this creative ability.

Following this creation of a sock puppet character theme the environment and set animation is constructed with purely fabric and recycled Jan with the drawers being crafted out of wool and dry felted with a felt face. The line art was created using a sewing machine with a satin stitch zigzag stitch and sunflower stitch to create intricate patterns depending on the closeness to the camera.
